How to choose well.
- Get at least 30 W: a 20 W adapter works, but a recent iPhone charges more slowly on it.
- For the iPhone 18 Pro Max, look for AVS: it unlocks its 52 W. Without AVS it tops out around 43 W, which is still fast.
- A more powerful charger does not harm the battery: the iPhone only takes what it accepts. A 65 W charger can therefore also serve an iPad or a MacBook Air.
- The USB-C cable that comes with the iPhone is enough: it handles 60 W, more than any iPhone takes.

Which charger for an iPhone 17?
A USB-C Power Delivery charger of 30 W or more: the iPhone 17 takes about 28 W. Every charger compared here gives it full speed, so the cheapest one is enough.
Is a 65 W or 100 W charger dangerous for an iPhone?
No. The charger and the iPhone agree on the power through USB Power Delivery: the iPhone only takes what it accepts, from 20 to 52 W depending on the model.
Do you need an Apple charger?
No. An Anker or Ugreen USB-C Power Delivery charger charges an iPhone as fast as Apple’s. The one exception is the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which only goes beyond 43 W with an AVS charger, such as the Apple 40 W Dynamic Power Adapter.
